 escription":"Enter a world of Gothic terror\, supernatural nightmares\, ma
sked killers\, vengeful ghosts\, and blood-soaked mysteries as Exhumed Fil
ms and the Gap Theatre proudly present BAVA-THON\, a two-day celebration o
f the legendary Mario Bava\, one of the most influential filmmakers in hor
ror history. A master of atmosphere\, color\, camera movement\, and visual
invention\, Bava helped create the modern horror film\, the giallo thrill
er\, and the Italian gothic masterpiece. Join us on Friday\, August 7\, an
d Saturday\, August 8\, as we explore the haunted cinematic worlds of the
Grandmaster of Italian Horror! Saturday\, August 8 -- All-Day Marathon Beg
ins at Noon The marathon begins with the film that launched Bava's directo
rial career and changed horror cinema forever: BLACK SUNDAY (1960). Starri
ng the incomparable Barbara Steele\, this gothic masterpiece follows the r
esurrection of a centuries-old witch who returns from the grave to exact v
engeance upon her descendants. Next comes THE GIRL WHO KNEW TOO MUCH (1963
)\, starring Let?cia Rom?n and John Saxon. Often cited as the first true g
iallo thriller\, the film follows an American tourist in Rome who witnesse
s a murder but finds herself trapped in a web of mystery\, deception\, and
serial killings. Fashion becomes deadly in BLOOD AND BLACK LACE (1964)\,
starring Cameron Mitchell\, Eva Bartok\, and Thomas Reiner. After a murder
at a prestigious fashion house\, a masked killer begins stalking and elim
inating models one by one in a visually dazzling thriller that would becom
e one of the most influential horror films ever made. The supernatural ret
urns in KILL\, BABY... KILL! (1966)\, starring Giacomo Rossi Stuart\, Erik
a Blanc\, and Fabienne Dali. A doctor investigating a series of mysterious
deaths in a remote village discovers that the spirit of a young girl may
be behind the mounting terror. One of the most notorious shockers of the 1
970s follows with A BAY OF BLOOD (1971)\, starring Claudine Auger\, Luigi
Pistilli\, and Claudio Camaso. A brutal struggle for ownership of a valuab
le bay erupts into betrayal\, greed\, and an escalating body count in a fi
lm whose inventive murders would inspire countless slasher movies to come.
Then it's time for BARON BLOOD (1972)\, starring Joseph Cotten\, Elke Som
mer\, Massimo Girotti\, and Antonio Cantafora. A young man visiting his an
cestral castle accidentally resurrects a sadistic nobleman whose reign of
terror once haunted the region\, unleashing a centuries-old evil upon the
living. The marathon concludes with one of Bava's most idiosyncratic and u
nderrated works\, KIDNAPPED (RABID DOGS) (1974)\, starring Riccardo Cuccio
lla\, Lea Lander\, and Maurice Poli. A botched robbery spirals into a tens
e and increasingly desperate hostage ordeal\, culminating in one of the mo
st shocking endings in all of Italian cinema. From Gothic horror and super
natural fantasy to proto-slashers\, psychological terror\, and crime thril
lers\, BAVA-THON is an unparalleled opportunity to experience the astonish
ing range and visual genius of Mario Bava on the big screen. Whether you'r
e a lifelong devotee or discovering his work for the first time\, prepare
